Scent Story - Inspired by the iconic pleated tennis skirt Lacoste's three new fragrances are making quite a racket.
GAME ON
It's hard to imagine tennis champions like Serena Williams or Flavia Pennetta smashing aces in a tight corset and long skirt. But until the 1920s, that was the standard uniform for women on the tennis court. As you can imagine, this modest getup didn't allow for much athleticism ... or movement, period. Then 1925 French Open winner René Lacoste shook up the tennis world with his short-sleeve L.12.12 polo shirts (for men), above-the-knee pleated skirts (for women), and a little green crocodile logo.
Inspired by that game-changing tennis skirt, Lacoste recently launched a trio of fragrances that pay homage to the sport. With their flirty pleats, swingy shape, and short length, tennis skirts aren't just a prep style staple - they've translated off the courts as well, in plenty of this season's fabrics, from leather to lamé. Similarily, the house's new Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Pour Elle comes in three versions: Natural, Elegant, and Sparkling. Each fragrances shares a white floral jasmine heart, though Elegant adds a touch of creamy coconut and wild-rose notes, while Sparkling has sweet cotton candy, juicy apple, and green lily of the valley.
But if you're hitting the clay, Natural is the way to go. With a splash of citrus and mimosa mixed with the jasmine, the scent may even give your game extra lift. After all, a recent study from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine's Department of Immunology in Japan showed that citrus aromatherapy helped energize the 41 healthy females tested both physically and psychologically.
