HEURES D'ABSENCE Fragrances Louis Vuitton
A beautiful escape through the flowery fields of Grasse. Heures d'Absence is an invitation to let yourself go and enjoy those moments when time suspends its flight. An enchanting break we would love to last forever. A moment the Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud has captured in a profusion of fresh flowers. An absolutely contemporary bouquet giving pride of place to the delicate flowers of Grasse where jasmin and rose de Mai reveal themselves in all their majesty, enhanced by the green and powdery facets of mimosa from Tanneron. A hint of sandalwood and musk prolong the powdery accents of the flowers, while caressing them with a touch of sensuality. A vibrant and luminous fragrance, full of optimism.

Beauty - Point of Return
Nearly a century after the debut of its first fragrance, Louis Vuitton reimagines its original scent - an ode to great escapes whose formula has been lost to time.

LOUIS VUITTON Heures d'Absence Eau de Parfum, $250.

The search for Heures d'Absence, Louis Vuitton's earlist fragrance, went on for more than three years, says the house's master perfumer, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. And still, the juice remains a mystery. "All the documents disappeared," he says of the 1927 creation, which was discontinued in the '30s. ...the legendary nose started with a blank slate, completely reinventing the recipe for the Roaring Twenties - take two. Launching this month, the new Heures d'Absence... a bouquet of floral notes. ... The blooms include iconic flowers grown in Grasse, France, such as rose de mai, jasmine, and mimosa... Chances are the first Heures d'Absence was more typical of its time, heavy with oriental notes (like those in Guerlain Shalimar) or a powdery essence (as found in Chanel N°5)... "We are still looking [for the original formula]," Cavallier Belletrud says.
