About Lucky Brand
Founded in 1990 in Vernon, California, the Lucky Brand Jeans company is an American fashion house of designer demin jeans and casual clothing line inspired by the Southern California style. Gene Montesano opened a Florida jeans store with Barry Perlman in the 1970s. Montesano moved to LA in 1978 and founded Bongo with Michael Caruso. When Gene left Bongo after 15 years he partened with Perlman once again and founded Lucky Brand Jeans. Liz Clairborne acquired 85% of the company in 1999. They launched their first fragrance in 2000. In 2008 all Liz Claiborne fragrance licensing rights were acquired by Elizabeth Arden. After the 2011 sale of Liz Claiborne to JC Penney, they changed the name in 2012 to Fifth & Pacific. In 2013 Leonard Green and Partners acquired Lucky Brand Jeans from Fifth and Pacific for $225 million.
