

{"id":480,"date":"2010-03-31T13:07:58","date_gmt":"2010-03-31T20:07:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/fragrance\/?p=480"},"modified":"2018-11-02T13:29:07","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T20:29:07","slug":"celebrity-perfumes-are-they-for-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/fragrance\/celebrity-perfumes-are-they-for-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrity Perfumes \u2013 Are they for me?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Regardless of how you feel about a celebrity and the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebrityscentsation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celebrity SCENTsation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of celeb-inspired or celebrity-created perfumes, if you are a perfume connoisseur you love the rapid pace of new additions to your local perfume counters.\u00a0 In years prior to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/celebrity-perfumes\/\">celebrity perfume<\/a>\u00a0trend, very few \u201cnew additions\u201d of fragrances were released annually. Granted with the addition of the fashion design houses stepping into the fragrance arena, we have seen our fair share of newbie perfumes available.\u00a0 But lets face it ladies, a new flanker version for the spring line or the holidays is all we could hope for.\u00a0 The onslaught of brand-spanking-new perfumes has only been the fad over the last 8 years or so, and one can barely keep up with all the new celebrities throwing their hats into the ring!\u00a0 I, for one, am loving it!<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at years gone by\u2026 Lancome introduced\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/lancome\/lancome-tresor\/\">Tresor<\/a>\u00a0in the early 1990s and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/dior\/jadore\/\">J\u2019adore<\/a>\u00a0by Dior in the late 1990s.\u00a0 I admit, they are fabulous fragrances, but perhaps their staying power (no pun intended) wouldn\u2019t have lasted as long if more perfumes made their debuts each year.\u00a0 In order words, if we had more than a handful of perfumes to choose from, each perfume would have fewer followers.\u00a0 Think back to when the perfume counter was one small glass case at your local department store.\u00a0 Nowadays there are 2 or more spectacular counters for men\u2019s cologne and women\u2019s perfume in their respective departments.\u00a0 In the 1990s, when my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebrityscentsation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SCENTsation<\/a>\u00a0was born, our biggest sellers for women were the new fashion house perfumes of Liz Claiborne and George Marciano\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/guess\/guess-perfume-1990\/\">Guess<\/a>, (which faded from existence in a few short years\u2026I still have a smidge left in a bottle stashed away like gold) and the men\u2019s cologne selection, forget about it!<\/p>\n<p>When the fashion houses started to create their own perfume lines, we saw the fragrance counter grow by leaps and bounds.\u00a0 Now we\u2019re talking!\u00a0 Ladies like to change their shoes and handbags to match their mood, now we had fragrances available to add another touch to that personalized and ever-changing\u00a0<em>Stylista<\/em>\u00a0in all of us.\u00a0 We are a new generation of consumers.\u00a0 We don\u2019t select one \u201csignature\u201d fragrance for life, or only swap scents when the seasons change.\u00a0 No way!\u00a0 We are individuals, and the lingering cloud of fragrance we leave in our wake needs to reflect our unique persona.<\/p>\n<p>I remember clearly in the early 2000s when I spotted Jennifer Lopez\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/jennifer-lopez\/jennifer-lopez-glow-jlo\/\">Glow by JLO<\/a>\u00a0at the perfume counter of my local department store, I froze and thought to myself,\u00a0<em>\u201cHmm, what have we here?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 The scent was a too \u201cyoung\u201d for me, I thought, but it peaked my interest just the same.\u00a0 I knew \u2013 knew \u2013 this was something special and I would have to keep an eye on this brand by JLO.\u00a0 Sure enough, a few years later, the celebrity scent industry took flight.\u00a0 When\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/britney-spears\/\">Britney Spears<\/a>\u00a0(who I have to admit I am too old to really \u201cget\u201d) came out with her second celebrity perfume,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/britney-spears\/fantasy-britney-spears\/\">Fantasy<\/a>, I was hooked.\u00a0 Who cares about her, the fragrance is heavenly\u2026 and no, I\u2019m not the only one who thinks so\u2026there are 3 version of this popular perfume to date.\u00a0 And , by the way, Jennifer\u2019s 2005\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebrityscentsation.com\/celebrity-perfumes\/musicians\/jennifer-lopez\/jlo-miami-glow-perfume\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami Glow by JLO<\/a>\u00a0is still one of my day-time faves!
