And not just any light: the warm, caressing light you often see in the play of shadows in early 20th-century photographs. The result is a warm musk with smooth sandalwood and a bouquet of rose &#8211; the sort of scent that begs to be sniffed near the curve of a neck. &#8220;Creating a perfume is a question of emotion,&#8221; says Demachy. &#8220;It&#8217;s not intellectual at all.&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/clinique\/clinique-happy\/\"><strong>Clinique Happy<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nOver two decades ago, perfumers <a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/perfumers\/jean-claude-delville\/\">Jean-Claude Delville<\/a> and Rodrigo Flores-Roux were given a directive: Come up with a scent different from anything else on the market. But we&#8217;ll never forget the moment we first experienced this revelatory scent. Glowing with all the floral, shining aspects of mandarin, it&#8217;s an extravagant burst of sunlight.<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/jo-malone\/\">Jo Malone London<\/a> Geranium &amp; Walnut Body Scrub<\/strong> ($55)<br \/>\nWe&#8217;re not exactly the linger-in-the-shower type (we&#8217;re more of the hurry-and-rinse-and-got-on-with-the-day type). But this cocktail of walnut shells and sunflower oil buffs away roughness &#8211; and our impatience.<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/acqua-di-parma\/\">Acqua di Parma<\/a> Spray Body Lotion<\/strong> ($50)<br \/>\nLonging for an Italian getaway? Here it is, in a bottle. An airy cloud of skin-smoothing almond oil and grape seed is infused with one of five different transporting scents. The fig-and-lemon <a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/acqua-di-parma\/acqua-di-parma-blu-mediterraneo-fico-di-amalfi\/\"><strong>Fico di Amalfi<\/strong><\/a> is particularly <em>bellisimo<\/em>.<br \/>\n(Schaffner, Liana. &#8220;Best of Beauty: The Best Splurges.&#8221; Allure Oct. 2018: 104)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Best of Beauty ~ SCENT<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nThese superstars transformed our skin, exalted our hair, brightened our eyes, and exceeded our (very high) expectation. We wanted you to be the first to know.<\/p>\n<p>FLORAL &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/ralph-lauren\/woman-by-ralph-lauren\/\"><strong>Ralph Lauren Woman<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nPerfumer Anne Flippo is the woman behind Women by Ralph Lauren. And&#8230;she gets us. With a soft bed of tuberose at the center, hazelnut underneath, and a bright pear note up top, the scent is full of dimension and countours.<\/p>\n<p>CITRUS &#8211; <strong>Eau de <a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/givenchy\/\">Givenchy<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nLots of citrus fragrances try to capture the essence of an orange. But Givenchy Eau de Givenchy has captured the elusive essence of an entire grove. Lemon and mandarin convey pure sunlight; bitter almond and musk are the stark white clouds in a low-hanging sky.<\/p>\n<p>GREEN &#8211; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/bottega-veneta\/\">Bottega Veneta<\/a> Parco Palladiano X Olivo<\/strong><br \/>\nInspired by olive trees, Bottega Veneta Parco Palladiano X Olivo is as woodsy as it is green. The base has the earthy quality of warm roots, and the fresh, silvery olive accord feels vibrant and alive.<\/p>\n<p>FRUITY &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/versace\/versace-dylan-blue-pour-femme\/\"><strong>Versace Dylan Blue<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nThe bottle looks as though a Medici could have designed it (one who dabbled in the dark arts), but Versace Dylan Blue is a sheer and uplifting potion. Apple and clover create a fresh impression; jasmine and musk add depth.<\/p>\n<p>SPICY &#8211; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/etat-libre-d-orange\/\">Etat Libre d&#8217;Orange<\/a> Une Amourette Roland Mouret<\/strong><br \/>\nUne Amourette Roland Mouret Etat Libra d&#8217;Orange isn&#8217;t spicy in an obvious, in-your-face way. The name translates to &#8220;a fling,&#8221; and the warm, sensual mix of neroli, cardamom, pink peppercorn, and vailla is indeed sexy without taking itself too seriously.<\/p>\n<p>OUD &#8211; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/prada\/\">Prada<\/a> Miracle of the Rose<\/strong><br \/>\nWith dark leather, smoky tobacco, and full-bodied rose, Prada Miracle of the Rose balances (and enhances) the sometimes carnal, sometimes spiritual aspects of oud.<\/p>\n<p>CLASSIC &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/theperfumegirl.com\/perfumes\/fragrances\/chloe\/chloe-perfume\/\"><strong>Chloe Eau de Parfum<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s been 10 years since Chloe eau de parfum first created a stir in the shared world of fashion and fragrance.
