A Sense of Chloé - This fragrance is the "accomplice" inspired by the intimacy of the beauty ritual. 'Love, Chloe' embodies all the olfactory vocabulary of cosmetics, leaving an original mark... An airy cloud that softens the skin, the signature of a sophisticated finish. A fine, powdery scent, light and sensual with a flowery wake, iridescent and musky with talc and rice. The fragrance is a concentrate of emotions. Composed by perfumers Louise Turner and Nathalie Cetto-Gracia (Givaudan), 'Love, Chloe' follows in the traces of Chloe's fragrance history. A traditio of exalting flowers to the pinnacle of stylish chic. "To reproduce the cult powdery signature, we had to play with the abstract and resist the pitfall of a figurative bouquet," states Louise Turner. The top note features orange blossom blended with an icy touch of pink pepper. Vivacious. Modern. As invigorating as a quick stride. The fragrance's heart note then radiates on the skin. A concentrate of elegance, fusing iris absolute and flower notes blended into an impressionist twist: lilac, hyacinth, wisteria blossom. Mingling poetry into this floral accord, heliotropine, the iconic ingredient used in perfumery for over a century, offers its almond and subtle vanilla tone. Lastly, powdery musks interweave into an immaculate backdrop alongside the talc and rice powder notes designed by the perfumers. A lingering powder halo nestles into the skin like a feminine aura at each moment.

A Precious Bottle
The 'Love, Chloe' bottle is the most precious and mysterious of her accessories. It follows her at all times, indispensible and beautiful. Seeped in a nude pink bath, Chloe's iconic color, the spray flirts between transparency and metal. A slender silhouette, golden with subtle tones of pink, a delicately engraved name... every detail upholds a taste for refinement, down to the delicate gold chain fastening the cap, a graceful echo of Chloe's elegant leather goods.

Fragrance News - Dollars & Scents -- Don't judge a book by its cover -- or a perfume by its bottle. Fragrance experts single out the best scents under $60 (and explain why "smelling like cheap perfume" isn't the insult it used to be).

Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy, $37.50 -- Dark berries, powdery florals, and amber are the hallmarks of this sexy scent, which Chandler Burr, curator of the department of olfactory art at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, calls "absolutely extraordinary." Whatever your feelings about pop music, many of its stars are cranking out superior fragrances, such as Midnight Fantasy, J.Lo Glow (a zesty, clean floral), and Kylie Minogue Darling (sugared fruit). Much of the credit goes to the perfumers behind them, who also created the luxurious Fresh Cannabis Santal and Chloe Love, Chloe.

Past Notes - In 1966, Karl Lagerfeld was named head designer of the young fashion house of Chloé, beloved for its ethereal and romantic pieces. The scents of orange and wisteria blossom, lilac, and pink pepper in the brand's new fragrance -- inspired by the memorable scent of Coty Airspun Powder -- evoke a whimsical, retro style. Love, Chloe Eau de Parfum, $110 for 2.5 fl. oz., at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Floral and vanilla notes give an ultra-feminine feel to this fresh, romantic scent. Love eau de parfum, Chloe, $85/1.7 oz.; saksfifthavenue.com.

Love and Other Drugs - Love, Chloe - Sitting in an opulent suite at Paris' Hotel Ritz decorated - no coincidence - in what has become her signature nude pink palette, Chloe designer Hannah MacGibbon (looking like a haute art student in butterscotch leather overalls that blend nicely with her surroundings) recently confessed to a newfound passion: fragrance making. "It's one of my favorite parts of the job, actually," says the soft-spoken Paris-based Brit. "Fashion is so fast now, which is quite frustrating. It's an honor to be able to do something that is going to last and to have time to do it well." Her latest foray into the scent biz is Love, Chloe, a rosy-hued blend of orange blossom and iris absolute with "impressionist" (so sayeth the brand's veteran scent mixologist) brushstrokes of lilac, hyacinth, and wisteria. Elegant and powdery in an almost old-fashioned way - it harks back to the house's original Chloe (1975) and Narcisse (1992) - the juice speaks to the Chloe woman's eternal soft girlishness while also putting an eveningwear spin on the practical-chic daytime trousers and blouses that MacGibbon has focused on in her five seasons helming the brand. "I wanted true perfume," the designer says. "There's a quality and expensiveness in Love, Chloe" - the bottle is a gold-topped flacon - "but in an understated way that I'd like to project in the clothes as well."
("Love and Other Drugs." Elle Feb. 2011: 148.)

Love Story - Where's the love? It may lie in a bottle of the new powdery floral fragrance Love, Chloé. We take a closer look. The Scent: Iris, heliotrope, and orange blossom blended with a face-powder note reminds perfumer and fragrance cocreator Louise Turner of "loose powder that my grandmother used with a big puff." The Color: The perfume was tinted "a dusky pink," says Turner - mirroring the clothes in Chloe's fall 2010 collection. The Engraving: The fragrance's name is "embossed into the base of the bottle like the signature on a letter," says Chloe's international marketing director, Philippe Desroche. The Chain: The rose-gold chain looks like the strap on a Chloe shoulder bag.
(Caporimo, Alison. "Love Story." Allure Feb. 2011: 107.)

Love, Chloe, $85 - "I would definitely want my girlfriend to wear this. I'm a sucker for stuff that smells musky," says scent tester, Reggie, 26.
("His Picks: New Scents He Wants to Smell on You." Cosmopolitan Feb. 2011: 76.)

Nostalgic Nose: Talc-y and delicate, Love, Chloe Eau de Parfum, $85, happily reminds me of that old Coty powder from my mother's vanity.
