Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Perfume

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey - eau de parfum for women

L'Eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake - "Created in 1992. When Issey Miyake conceived L'Eau d'Issey he accepted the daunting challenge of being born modern...and remaining modern. The heart of the project was a simple yet novel idea: imagine the scent of water, the source of life. This resolutely avant-garde aquatic floral fragrances is graced by a slender, sleek bottle, a sign right from the outset of the meeting between East and West. The sillage unfolds over the skin, like a velvety rose petal, a signature as unforgettable as unexpected. A fresh fragrance composed with delicate, light flowers combined with Rose and Lotus. When Flower meets Water. A fresh floral aquatic with a woody trail. The L'Eau d'Issey olfactory signature: Lotus, Rose, Lily and Precious Woods. When Lotus meets Rose, symbols of the East and West."  --isseymiyakeparfums.com

Worldly Scents
Intrepid fragrance explorer Courtney Dunlop uncovers informs history of how culture informs what smells good to us. ... [T]he Japanese, a more reserved society [than China] that eschews the heavy scents of other cultures and prefers delicate, well-balanced fragrances like Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey. Rather than flaunting one or two standout notes, you find "nothing overpowering -- almost smelling cosmetic-like," says [Sumit] Bhasin [global director for P&G Prestige]. "A bit more musky, with white-flower notes and a powdery background. Very creamy, but not with a strong vanilla like you get in some of the American products." The less is more approach.

Raw Power
Some of these experimental ingredients are so novel that they border on unnerving.

Calone
First developed by Pfizer...it smells of the seashore. Perfumers regarded it as so unusual that it remained untouched for 20 years. Finally, its cold, metallic quality was softened with rose and white lily in Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey.

Floral
In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, almost all perfumes were florals. Like real flowers, there's a huge range, and they're prone to intermarrying with other families, which is why you'll hear about "floral greens" and "florientals."

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey
Not as lush as the others, with sharp floral tones.

(Van Gelder, Lindsy. "All in the Family." Allure Oct. 2011: 263)
